Ground Hog Day
February 2 @ 6:40 am - 7:00 am
Groundhog Day, observed on February 2nd, is when we wonder if we’ll have six more weeks of winter. The only one with the answer is a groundhog named Punxsutawney Phil. Each year, people gather at Gobbler’s Knob in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, to hear the forecast from this famous rodent. The tradition began with German settlers in the 1700s, who brought their seasonal superstitions to Pennsylvania. According to legend, if Phil sees his shadow on February 2nd, winter will persist. Conversely, if the weather is cloudy and he doesn’t see his shadow, we can expect warmer temperatures and an early spring. Groundhog Day is a tradition worth celebrating.
Since we don’t have Phil, Letty, our lovely Golden Retriever, will step in. Join us at 6:40 AM to see if Letty will see her shadow. Let’s hope for an early spring!
