“Moose Youth English Summer Survival Camp”

Youth ages 5-14 will enjoy fun packed days learning new outdoor skills, teamwork and having fun while learning English and Japanese. This summer there are several dates to choose from. Event dates are as following.  June 16 – 22, July 21-27, August 4 – 10, 2024

Youth will be divided equally on the first day and develop their team. Each team will have a team leader. Teams will work together throughout the event and will overcome obstacles, learn navigation, survival skills, building a fire, outdoor cooking, teamwork, making long lasting friends and so much more. Push your limits as you participate with your team in this friendly competition! We provide a unique opportunity for youth to learn English and Japanese while safely experiencing supervised overnight camping in Japan’s great outdoors. With this experience, we hope the youth will develop a better knowledge and respect for nature.

Daily activities include making meals, team challenges, arts and crafts, biking, basketball, swimming, and other sports, night sky viewing and learning about nature, Team challenges are based off the American TV series “survivors”.

The camp will have American staff speaking English, so Japanese youth have a chance to learn English while English speaking youth can learn some Japanese.  Each camp will have a Teen leader, age 15-17. who will lead the camp, with Moose guiding them.

Youth will sleep in tents. Please bring your own sleeping bag and pillow. Maximum of 20 youth.

Cost is ¥60,000 per child.  2nd child discount 25% (¥45,000)

Check in is from 1800 until 2300 on Sunday.  Check out is at 1300 on Saturday.

Parents are invited to watch the final challenge and will be invited to Lunch on Saturday. The final challenge event will start at 1100. Lunch will be at 1200.

Transportation is provided upon request. Pickup will be at Nasushiobara Station (Tohoku Shinkansen) or Kurodahara Station (Tohoku line).

Fees include camp fees, meals, supplies, certificate, photo book and insurance.

Here is the menu for the first kid’s camp in June. Each meal will have salad, fruits and drinks. Most meals and snacks are made by the youth.

Sample daily schedule:

0700 wake up and prepare for the day

0730-0900 Prepare breakfast, eat and cleanup “Team A duties” Omelets in Ziplock baggie

0900 Morning Challenge

1030 snack

1100 Activity: Scavenger Hunt

1130 Prepare lunch, eat and cleanup “Team B Duties” Personal Pizzas

1300 Afternoon Challenge

1430 Snack

1500 Activity: swimming

1630- 1830 Prepare Dinner, eat and cleanup “Team C Duties”  Alunimum foil dinners (Choice of chicken, fish or hamburger)

1830-2200  Shower/Smores/star gazing/Free time

Teams alternate during these times.
